Switching checklist
This is the safest route if you want the referral credit to track.
-
Use the link first
Open the referral link before starting a new Octopus quote. If you start somewhere else, the referral may not attach.
-
Compare your quote
Check unit rates, standing charges, payment method, tariff length, exit fees and whether rates vary by region.
-
Keep confirmation
Save Octopus emails and contact me after your qualifying switch is confirmed so I can arrange the extra £25.
Before you sign up
Have a recent bill ready if you can. Real annual usage usually gives a better quote than a rough low, medium or high estimate. If you have gas and electricity with different suppliers, check whether you are switching one fuel or both.
Check your current supplier for exit fees or fixed tariff end dates. Octopus may be a good fit, but the referral credit should not be the only reason to switch.
If you have an EV, heat pump, solar panels, battery storage or a smart meter, check the official Octopus smart tariff pages. Some tariffs are designed for specific home setups and may require compatible equipment.
After you switch
Octopus says referral credit is paid after your supply starts and your first direct debit has been successfully taken. Their official guidance says this typically takes around four weeks, although supplier delays can make it longer.
Once your qualifying switch has been confirmed, contact me through the form on the homepage. I only need enough information to match the referral and arrange the extra £25. Do not send bank details, meter numbers, login details or a full bill.
If the referral credit does not appear, contact Octopus directly because they control the customer account and credit application.
